On Thursday 3 October, Melbourne Royal announced the results of the prestigious 2024 Australian Food Awards. This year, the Awards saw an impressive range of entries from top producers across the country, with each product blind tasted and judged on their own merits against a set of criteria by a panel of esteemed industry experts.


Among the exceptional winners, Inglenook Dairy from Dunnstown, Victoria, stood out once again, taking home the Champion Milk Trophy for their Low Fat Homogenised. Melbourne Royal had the opportunity to speak with Rachael Peterken of Inglenook Dairy, where she shared what this recognition means for her business, the importance of the Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards, and her experience at the 2024 Trophy Presentation.

What does winning the Champion Milk award mean for your business?

Winning a Gold Medal in these awards means the world to us. It is a testament to the team's dedication and hard work. To win Champion Milk just takes this to a whole new level. The hard work, sacrifice and dedication is all worth it to receive this prestigious award. We are only a small business and to know we creating a product worthy of this recognition it's simply amazing. Our customers love seeing our success, and it also means we receive a massive amount of media attention.

 

Why are the Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards so important for the industry?

The Melbourne Royal Food Awards are our favourite awards - and I believe the most recognised in the Industry. The prestige these Awards carry highlights just how valued they are in our community. As farmers and producers it is nice to be recognised for producing such high quality products. It is also the most amazing way to showcase what we produce here in Australia and the media love it. They also generate a lot of media attention and create more brand awareness for us.

What did you most enjoy at the 2024 Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards Trophy Presentation?

I love the fact that it is so fancy. A lot of people who attend these awards wouldn't often get to experience this level of WOW. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere and a good, fun vibe. I think it is wonderful how you showcase the Trophy winners also.
