Australian International Beer Awards Spotlight: Stone & Wood’s Big Win at the 2024 Australian International Beer Awards

On Thursday 16 May, the best breweries and beers from across Australia and around the world were recognised for brewing excellence at the iconic Victoria Pavilion at Melbourne Showgrounds.

Stone & Wood once again made its mark in the Australian beer scene, taking home the coveted Champion Australian Beer title at the 2024 Melbourne Royal Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA). The winning brew, their Hinterland Big Pale, captured the attention of judges, securing a well-deserved top spot.

The Awards, recognised as one of the largest annual beer competitions in the world, celebrates excellence in brewing across multiple categories. This year, the competition saw an array of entries, but Stone & Wood’s Hinterland Big Pale stood out for its innovation and craftsmanship. The brew is described as having a low malt profile, with light tropical notes of mandarin and pineapple.

Caolan Vaughan, Head Brewer at Stone & Wood, expressed his excitement over the victory. “Winning this award is just the biggest pat on the back you can receive as a brewer,” he said. With a focus on quality and a passion for creating unique, memorable beers, Stone & Wood’s team was thrilled with the recognition.

The Hinterland Big Pale is a new addition to Stone & Wood’s range. Vaughan explained, “I'm very excited about what the beer can do. It's a very new beer". He also emphasised that one of the most rewarding aspects of the process is “just sharing it with people and having fun doing it.”

With this win, Stone & Wood continues to solidify its reputation as one of Australia’s leading craft breweries. The Hinterland Big Pale showcases the brewery’s dedication to quality, innovation, and community, reinforcing their place at the forefront of Australian brewing.

As the beer industry continues to evolve, Stone & Wood’s success at the 2024 AIBA serves as a reminder of the importance of craftsmanship and passion in brewing. Whether you’re a seasoned beer enthusiast or new to the craft, the Hinterland Big Pale promises to be a must-try brew this year.
