Kingsvale Jerseys Awarded Supreme Champion of Show

Kingsvale Jersey’s from Ripplebrook, Victoria has taken out the top prize in the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show Dairy Cattle Competition, with their senior cow Kingsvale Rosella 438.

Judged on the first evening of the Show, Kingsvale Rosella 438 took home the titles of Senior Champion Jersey Cow, Senior Champion Vessel (Jersey), Supreme Senior Champion Cow (Interbreed) and Supreme Champion of Show.

Conducted annually by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the 2019 competition attracted more than 50 entries from 20 exhibitors. The all new in milk competition was well supported by the industry with entries received for the Holstein, Red Holstein, Jersey, Guernsey and Ayrshire breeds.

Up and coming leader of the dairy industry and Royal Melbourne Show dairy cattle exhibitor, Mr Patrick Anderson had earlier that evening been named the winner of the 2019 RASV Youth Travel Scholarship. Patrick is hoping to use the scholarship in 2020 to travel to dairy regions throughout America and Canada.

CEO of the RASV, Mr Paul Guerra was thrilled about the support shown by the wider dairy industry to the Royal Melbourne Show and the Dairy Cattle Competition.

“The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria is delighted with the support from the Victorian dairy industry. The restructure of the Royal Melbourne Show Dairy Cattle Competition classes resulted in five breeds returning the Show.”

“We are proud that the Royal Melbourne Show provided a format that was embraced by the exhibitors. The all new format that included the introduction of breed specific in-milk classes complemented the Dairy Youth Handlers Classic.”

“The Royal Melbourne Show Dairy Cattle Competition offers participants the opportunity to benchmark their livestock, receive valuable feedback from some of the industry’s most respected judges and provides a unique and valuable platform to connect, engage and educate consumers about the Victorian dairy industry,” said Mr Guerra.
