Shane Crawford announced as the Ambassador of the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show

Presented by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), Victoria’s largest and most iconic annual community event will be held from Saturday 21 September to Tuesday 1 October at Melbourne Showgrounds. This year’s Show will be like no other, with an all new program of activities and pavilions on offer.

Shane will proudly attend and experience everything this year’s Show has to offer. Reflecting on his fond memories of the event that is the Victorian celebration like no other, Shane says he’s looking forward to bringing his family along, to create new memories together.

“The kids are a couple of years apart in age so they’re interested in different things, but I know there will be plenty for each of them to do and see at the Show. As a country guy myself, I can’t wait to get the kids up close to the animals. They love feeding the baby goats but maybe we’ll put them to the test and see if they have what it takes to shear a sheep or milk a cow!” Shane said.

“I think the kids will love this year’s new attractions. The twins can’t wait to see the new Royal Melbourne Show Parade with Batman, Wonder Woman and Peppa Pig, and Ben is all about the Jurassic Creatures exhibition. My eldest loves technology, so we’ll be spending some time in the new Future Pavilion for sure, and I personally can’t wait to see Cosentino the Grand Illusionist. We’re all looking forward to the rides and taking home a Showbag or two each!” Shane said.

On the appointment of Shane Crawford as the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show Ambassador, Paul Guerra, CEO RASV, said he was simply the perfect fit.

“The Royal Melbourne Show is Victoria’s largest and most iconic annual community event that celebrates excellence in agriculture and brings the country to the city. Shane perfectly embodies the essence of the Show – he grew up in a small country town, has inspiring community spirit and a wonderful family.

“There’s a huge variety of new, unique and memorable experiences to enjoy this year and we are thrilled to have Shane be part of our all new Royal Melbourne Show. We can’t wait for Shane and his family to enjoy the new attractions, live entertainment, pavilions and food experiences, plus all the quintessential Show activities, such as thousands of farm animals, wood-chopping, equestrienne, arts and craft, dog shows, carnival rides and of course, the showbags,” Mr Guerra said.

The Royal Melbourne Show gates will open daily from 9:30am to 9:00pm. The best way to travel to the Show is by public transport, with trains, trams and buses making for a quick and simple commute.
