Established in 1883 and this year the prestigious Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy for Best Young Red Wine, the 2024 Melbourne Royal Wine Awards welcomes a number of refinements and new initiatives following a detailed review in consultation with our Committee.

Reduction of minimum stock requirements for Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy and Francois de Castella

Having considered the impact of smaller yields in more recent years and with a view to making the Awards more inclusive, the most significant change to this year’s program is the reduction in the requirement for held finished commercially packaged stock for “The Jimmy” and the François de Castella Trophies from 150 dozen to 100 (or equivalent volume) for all trophies.
