With more than $30,000 in cash, prizes and trophies to be won, the Melbourne Royal® Sheep Competition sees the presentation of a number of prestigious awards.
All Breeds Sheep Interbreed
The Champion Ram and Ewe of the Melbourne Royal Sheep Interbreed sees the best of the best from almost 20 breeds competing for the prestigious titles.
Melbourne Royal Victorian Sheep Exhibitor of Excellence Award
A $10,000 cash prize will be awarded to the exhibitor that wins Champion Interbreed Ewe or Champion Interbreed Ram at the Melbourne Royal Show and wins one of the following classes at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show:
- Supreme Australian Long Wool Exhibit Ram or Ewe
- Supreme Australian Short Wool Exhibit Ram or Ewe
- Supreme Australian Cleanskin Exhibit Ram or Ewe
In addition, the exhibitor will need to have won one of the following classes at the Victorian Sheep Show in the same calendar year.
- Champion Interbreed Shortwool Ewe or Champion Shortwool Interbreed Ram
- Champion Interbreed Longwool Ewe or Champion Longwool Interbreed Ram
- Champion Interbreed Cleanskin Ewe or Champion Cleanskin Interbreed Ram
Sheep Schools’ and Youth Competition
This competition allows the next generation of sheep producers the opportunity to judge and handle a wide variety of sheep breeds and hone their skills under the guidance of professionals.
