Janice M Gray Memorial Trophy
The Janice M Gray Memorial Trophy was first awarded in 1988.
Who was Janice Gray?
Janice Gray was the administrator of the Royal Melbourne Show Arts & Crafts Section from 1971 - 1988.
In 1963, at 16 years of age, she commenced work in the RASV Dog section before moving into Arts and Crafts. She worked in Arts and Crafts for 17 years before her untimely death in 1988.
The RASV and staff developed the trophy to honour Janice and her achievements.
The trophy was originally awarded to the most successful school in either garment construction or woodwork but in 1993 the conditions were changed. The Janice M Gray Memorial Trophy is now awarded to the most successful school in the junior arts and crafts competitions (excluding cookery).
