Providence Cup
The Providence Cup was first awarded in 2012.
Who wins this trophy?
The hack or Galloway judged to have the best Show hunter qualities. The winner is over 14 hands. The competition is open to mares and geldings.
The identification of the best Show hunters has objective and subjective elements. For example, ‘a quality Show hunter must create the impression that it is capable of hunting over a variety of terrain’ (Equestrian Australia)
The top ten complete a workout for the three judges. Each finalist is judged ‘on manners, paces, conformation and soundness and performance’.
The name of the winner is engraved on the cup. As this is a perpetual trophy, the cup belongs to the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV). In this competition the winner is also given a garland, an inscribed trophy rug, an RASV sash and a trophy jacket. There are also gifts acknowledging each of the other finalists.
Who presented this trophy to the RASV?
Karen Fisher presented this trophy to the RASV. Fisher belongs to a long, great tradition of Royal Melbourne Show participants who encourage others by offering an award for excellence. Fisher is a competitor, supporter, committee member, judge and coach within the showing industry.
