Plenty of character, fleece and good breeding will be on display as the best alpacas from around Australia are showcased in the Melbourne Royal Alpaca Competition at the Melbourne Royal Show in September.

The best of Australia’s beef cattle - from Shorthorns to Speckle Parks - will grace Melbourne Showgrounds from Thursday 3 October to Sunday 6 October in the 2024 Melbourne Royal Beef Cattle Competition.

Sheep breeders and producers are being invited to celebrate their finest livestock and compete for a coveted blue ribbon, in addition to an impressive $30,000 in cash and prizes, at the iconic Melbourne Royal Show this spring.

Bernie Hearn, her husband, and their two sons share more than 50 years of competition and history in the showjumping arena at the Melbourne Royal Show. Now taking the reins for the first year as Melbourne Royal’s Horses in Action Committee Chair, Bernie is preparing for the 2024 Melbourne Royal Horses in Action Competition – and aside from her passion for showjumping there is one event firmly in the spotlight this year.

Perfectly presented cakes, painstakingly crafted crochets, and finessed fine arts will all be on display alongside an expected 4000 entries in the state’s biggest exhibition of creativity at the Melbourne Royal Show in September.
