Drawing the top breeders from across the country, the Melbourne Royal Sheep Competition was, once again, nothing short of spectacular. In the spotlight at this year's competition was the magnificent South Suffolk breed, known for its charcoal-faced elegance and subtly muscular build.

The 2023 Melbourne Royal Alpaca Competition, held from Thursday, September 21 to Saturday, September 23, concluded with a celebration of exceptional alpaca breeds, showcasing the finest examples of both Suri and Huacaya alpacas in both the halter and fleece sections. This prestigious event drew alpaca enthusiasts, breeders, and judges from across the country. The results were nothing short of remarkable, with several alpacas standing out as supreme champions.

More than 200 alpacas will make their mark on the Melbourne Royal Show in September as some of the best animals and fleece from around Australia are showcased in the Melbourne Royal Alpaca Competition.

Five thousand classes, 3000 entries, 200 breeds and four international judges will culminate in one of the largest and most prestigious events in the Southern Hemisphere – the Melbourne Royal All Breeds Championship Dog Show. The glory of winning at one of the country’s most preeminent shows will be intensified this year as Melbourne Royal celebrates 175 years with commemorative ribbons and prizes.

Perfectly presented cakes, painstakingly handcrafted garments and mouth-watering preserves will be just some of the 4,000 entries set to impress at the 2023 Melbourne Royal Art, Craft and Cookery Competition.
