Delicious and decadent dairy was in abundance at the 25th Australian Grand Dairy Awards held in Victoria Pavilion at Melbourne Showgrounds on Thursday 1 February hosted by Dairy Australia and the Royal Agriculture Societies.

Melbourne Royal is saddened to hear of the passing of Bill Chambers OAM. Bill has been a familiar face at the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards for many years. Born in Rutherglen in 1933, Bill became the fifth-generation winemaker in his family, serving as a Wine Judge for the Awards for the first time in 1950, and later as Chairman of the Royal Melbourne Wine Show judging panel for 21 years. In 1994, Bill was awarded the President’s Medal as well as a life member of RASV in honour of his valuable contribution over many years.

Aimee Bolton's journey in the agricultural industry began with her first visit to a meat processing facility at the Melbourne Royal Show a decade ago. Today, she stands as the proud recipient of the Emerging Leader in Victorian Agriculture Award, recognising her significant contributions to the field through her role at JBS Australia, the nation's largest meat and food processing company.

A fervent champion of agricultural shows and now the dedicated secretary of her local Cohuna Show, Giorgi Boucher has been rising up the ranks in Victoria’s agricultural show movement for many years now. Giorgi’s passion for agricultural shows and enthusiastic attitude is what recently won her the prestigious Melbourne Royal Rising Star Award at the 2023 Melbourne Royal Show.

As we approach the festive season and the end of 2023, it’s an opportunity to reflect on what has been a highly successful year for Melbourne Royal in celebrating 175 years.
